Oh, what we do in the Summertime...

It's the most wonderful time of the year! The kids are home, the sun is shining. We've played lots of baseball, been swimming and hiking. Staying up late and slept in (well, the kids anyway). I really do love summertime! Here are a few of our outings.                                

 Twin Falls isn't the most beautiful place to live until you look in the canyon.  We found this spot, Niagara Springs, in the canyon about 40 minutes to the northwest. The husband and Porter have camped there the past few years for Father/Sons.  Some moms decided it was our turn to play there. The kids pulled "seeweed" from the river all afternoon.  The water was freezing but the temperature was HOT!

 We took a quick trip to Poky to spend an evening with my dad for Father's Day.  Linds family was there.  The kids played and loved being around Grandpa.  I have a wonderful dad. He's so great and we love him lots!!

Took a day trip to Sun Valley with some friends. It is just under 2 hours up the road.  We hiked, fished and swam all in a day.  It was worth every minute of the drive. 

 This June Megan and Grace joined the Kimberly Track Club.  What a fun experience.  Long jump, relays, pee wee hurdles, 3200m- they could choose their event.  Plus, they both came home with several blue ribbons. 

 Porter chose baseball instead of track.  Baseball is one of my favorite things about June. Sitting together as a family at a ball park is so relaxing. Okay, more to come about baseball later.  Megan ran the 3200 (only kid on the track, so I joined her and the two of us ran the 8 laps)and several other events. Track was another great time being outside together.

 Last weekend we were blessed to have G&G Buckley come stay with the kids while the husband and I escaped to Sun Valley.  I cooked nothing and hardly looked at my watch all weekend. We hiked Baldy mountain and the next day hiked to some beautiful mountain lakes in the Sawtooths. I can't think of a better time to spend with the husband. Came back relaxed and rejuvenation. 

 And we got a cat. Her name is Pip. No regrets.  She's provided hours of entertainment at little cost. The husband even admits to liking her.

Summer wouldn't be complete without a garden. This was just after planting. Nothing really new this year. We planted corn, tomatoes, pumpkin, watermelon, peppers, onions, potatoes, carrots, squash, zucchini, carrots, and cucumbers. Not that it will all grow but we're giving it a shot. Plus, the weeds are great motivation. Kids want to play, weeding gets done!


Summer is really about time together. Doing things at little cost, being outside, staying active and having fun.  Love it!
