In August we went on our annual trip to Redfish Lake with some great friends from Boise. This is a trip our kids look forward to all summer! We spent 4 days 3 nights camping at the lake. The beach is always the favorite. Plus, we got tube rides this year (thanks van den Akkers!). However, this was the summer of fishing and frogs. Our kids wanted to fish and when they weren't fishing they were "frogging". We had great luck with both! Grace proved to be the best fishergirl while Meg got brave enough to hold frogs. Our last day we went to a pond where the banks were lined with little tiny black frogs. We could barley walk without stepping on a frog. We visited Stanely Lake, Alturas Lake, Pettit Lake, Sawtooth Fish Hatchery and listened to music at the Redfish Lake lodge. I think the very best part of the trip is our friends! The kids all have friends their age. They ride around the campground on their bikes, make up games, and explore. No tv, no fighting, no video games. The adults stay up chatting around the campfire. Honestly, I wanted to stay a few more days (if I had found a shower!). We'll look forward to another Redfish Lake trip next summer. (Click on the collages to see bigger images!)
