Did you ever grow ideas...

"Did you ever grow anything in the garden of your mind? You can grow ideas in the garden of your mind." Mr. Rogers.
We watched this YouTube video about Mr. Rogers a few months ago.  I loved the concept of growing ideas in the garden of your mind.  I've always been an amateur art lover.  I think it's the creating process that I admire. The kids had a day home from school last month so we decide to grow ideas.  I gave them a blank canvas.  We then combed through our favorite art website and found awesome ideas.  I am so thankful for people who share their talents.  Click the "art" link and you'll be amazed! I thought the kids projects turned out awesome.  I hung them on the wall.  Like I said I'm an amateur art lover.  I think these are some of the best I've ever seen!
Annie drew and painted all by herself!

Meg challenged herself and ended up with a colorful city.

Porter did really well working with dimension.

Grace drew and painted her new favorite animal, a cat.

Finished projects.  I had to display them.
Hopefully, we'll have rotating exhibits!
Thanks Mr.Rogers!

  2. oh my goodness, I miss you. We need a whole afternoon to talk about the art projects I have been doing with the 1/2 graders. I chose to base all of my projects for the year around the concept "Inspired By." I will make a list! Better yet, I should blog a list and pictures. i have had so much fun. They asked me if I would be interested in taking a part time job at the school next year as they will have the funding for it, I was tempted for a bit, then Lily gave me the biggest hug and I know that for the next few years she is my full time job. I can create whatever world we want with her. Love it, thanks for sharing!

    1. Jessica, I would love your ideas! A blog post wold be great! We don't get to do as much art as I would like but love it when we do. You would be an awesome art teacher! I would bet the opportunity will come again. I've taught art a few times in school but they don't seem to make much time for it. Meg has an art elective right now and is doing art once a week with an after school group. She is loving it. So many possibilities. Like I've said before-we live in a parallel universe!
